Problem

What to check

I am seeing Wind Speed data but rain tips from the Rain Bucket are not registering

  1. The Black Davis Rain Bucket is shipped with a plastic cable-tie protecting the tipping mechanism. Look inside the rain bucket and check that this has been cut and removed and that the tipping mechanism tips freely when water is poured into the bucket.

  2. Check that the ACC-EXP-D is connected to an NCCS or NCCS5 cable on the Wildeye (usually cable 1) If it is connected to a NACS cable (with only one counter channel) then the rain gauge will not work, but all other sensors will.

  3. Davis started changing the default wiring position of Davis Rain gauges in the RJ connector in 2023. Wildeye managed the rewiring within the white box. However it is possible that a 'new' rain gauge plugged in to an 'old' white box may cause the rain bucket to not record tips. Contact support to diagnose.

I am seeing Windspeed and rain data but no Wind Direction or Solar Radiation.

Check the address of the ACC-EXP-D. The Wildeye uses SDI12 to communicate with the Wind Direction and Solar Radiation sensor. If the address is not configured correctly then the readings of these sensors will result in a timeout.

NOTE: Prior to 2024, ACC-EXP-D expanders were defaulted to address 't'. Since 2024, ACC-EXP-D Expanders were delivered with a Wildeye unique address (4 character address) printed on the expander. Use the 'add sensor' feature of the app when setting up new ACC-EXP-D expanders to scan the barcode and automatically set the address at setup. If you have left site and forgot to note down the address then you can perform an SDI-12 SCAN to find the correct address.
